Synoptic situation over the center of the European Territory of Russia (ETR) on June 24, 2020 was determined by the eastern periphery of the anticyclone and the high-altitude ridge over the northwest of the ETR. Moderate winds of the northern quarter prevailed in the entire thickness of the troposphere. In the first half of the day, a low-contrast cold front moved through the Moscow region from north to south, in the zone of which the development of convective clouds was observed.

In accordance with the flight plan, at 04:00 MSK, Yak-42D “Roshydromet” meteorological laboratory (b/n 42440) was lifted into the air from the Chkalovsky airfield, to monitor the cloud situation in the northern part of the Moscow air zone at distances of 200-250 km from Moscow. Then (from 6 to 8 o’clock) AN-12 (b/n 94396), AN-12 (b/n 12) and AN-12 (b/n 15) aircrafts were successively lifted into the air, which, along with monitoring the meteorological situation, carried out exposure to coarse powder in order to suppress convective clouds flowing into Moscow that could interfere with the air parade. During the day, similar flights were performed by AN-12 (b/n 26), AN-26 (b/n 03), AN-26 b/n 93999) and AN-26 (b/n 30) aircrafts at distances from 30 to 200 km from Moscow.

The works on weather protection of the Moscow city were completed at 24:00 MSK on June 24, 2020.

According to meteorological station data and radar observations, precipitation was not observed on the territory of Moscow on June 24, 2020 .
